Scripture of the Day 10-21-21

For the past few years I’ve been trying to find the proper motivation to read my Bible daily. I tend to personally struggle with focusing in long reading sessions. Recently I’ve been trying to read a chapter a day. I’ve never had problems with reading personally. I always wanted to be an author as a kid so it’s something I enjoy, however I tend to prefer reading articles and reading specifically in search of knowledge and answers. I don’t like reading no good reason.

After thinking this over for awhile I’ve decided that if I’m reading with the intentions to re-share whatever my findings are that that will be a solid motivator for me. Every day I’m going to be posting my favorite verses as a sort of “scripture of the day” once I’m done reading and I’m going to be expressing my point of view on it.

My son, do not despise the LORD’S discipline
or be weary of his reproof,
for the LORD reproves him whom he loves,
as a father the son in whom he delights.

Proverbs 3:11-12, ESV

Despite it being painful discipline is good. It’s hard being told that you’re wrong, or that you need to change. I’ve spoken with many people who believe that finding out that they’re wrong about something is an attack to them. Would you rather be corrected, and feel negative emotions momentarily so that it benefits you for the rest of your life, or be wrong forever?

The truth does not change with the times. Don’t fear being corrected on your wrongdoings by a living and loving God instead of an angry and sinful world.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17

I decided I’ll also throw this one in here as well. It’s more so just for motivating myself to read more.
